IDA Park -Pharmaceutical Product Development (PPD) Facility

Description

PPD, a leading global contract research organisation, partnered on this innovative project to transform an existing warehouse into a cutting-edge facility. The original 25,000 sq. ft. structure, built by JJ Rhatigan & Company as part of the IDA Industrial Units in Athlone, was reimagined to meet the specialised needs of PPD. The transformation included converting Unit A into bespoke offices, state-of-the-art laboratories, meeting rooms, a canteen, and archive space. Enhancements involved extending the first-floor structure to cover the entire building footprint and installing partitioning to define distinct work areas. Critical services, including backup generators and nitrogen generators, were incorporated to support the facility’s operations. The most recent upgrade involved demolishing the rear deliveries area to construct a new two-storey, 540m² extension, providing additional office and laboratory accommodation. This development underscores PPD’s commitment to supporting pharmaceutical innovation with world-class infrastructure.
